We are happy to announce that GEN Europe is looking for a Conference Coordinator to work on the yearly GEN-Europe Conference and other events. Applicants from all countries are welcome to apply, but must have the right to work in the EU. The Conference Coordinator is expected to be at Bagnaia ecovillage, Italy (host of the European Ecovillage Conference 2019) 1-17 July 2019.

Job title: Conference Coordinator

 

Salary: 20 Euro per hour/48 hours per month 960 Euros gross salary (before any organisation or employee deductions)

Location: The selected candidate can work from home office or at the GEN-Europe office, but is expected to be at Bagnaia, Italy at least from 1-17 July 2019.

Work time: approximately 48 hours per month

Contract duration: 2 years, with an initial evaluation period of 6 months

Contract: 2 year employment contract as an employee

Starting date: 1 November 2018

The European Ecovillage Conference is the annual gathering of European ecovillages and all those curious about community and alternative living, sustainability and regeneration. It takes place over four days in a different European ecovillage each year, and welcomes around 500 people.

It’s a unique mix of talks and participatory workshops, authentic networking and connection, and displays of innovation and tradition.  It seeks to incorporate all four dimensions of sustainability: social, economic, ecological and cultural. The programme often ranges from displays of cutting-edge sustainable technology to ceremonies that draw on indigenous traditions, and from crash courses in environmental advocacy to meditation and yoga sessions.

Our challenge is to provide a homecoming space for the longtime GEN Europe family as well as a space to welcome the curiosity of those new to the ecovillage movement.  Now approaching its 23rd year, we also seek to balance growth and creating a financially sustainable event with accessibility and remaining true to our core values.

We are seeking someone who is full of ideas about how to meet these challenges while working with transparency, excellent organisation skills, and enthusiasm for the event and the movement.

The candidate will be working with the small but growing team at GEN Europe, as well as the host ecovillage, and thus must be comfortable and confident working with remote teams.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Overall coordination of the working groups (Marketing, Registrations, Program, Fundraising and IT)

  • Developing and managing the conference project plan

  • Volunteer coordination

  • Budget management before, during and after conference

  • Coordinate with the conference host

  • Provide periodic progress reports to the GEN Europe office and council

Requisite skills:

  • Event Management

  • Leadership

  • Event marketing, PR & media relations

  • Budget and financial management

  • Communication in group settings

  • Ability to motivate diverse groups

  • Technical skills working with office software

  • Proficient in English

Desired:

  • Acquainted with the GEN network or similar grassroots movements

  • Willingness to relocate to the GEN Europe office in Arterra ecovillage, Spain
